Thomas Ray Brown Sr., 84, of Wolfe City, Tx., passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 in Baylor University Medical Center of Dallas. He was born May 15, 1932 to Thomas Jefferson Brown and Emma Lou Kennedy Brown. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a past Worshipful Master and current treasurer of the Excelsior Lodge 505, and member of First Baptist Church, both in Wolfe City. He worked for the telephone company for many years and reitred as a telephone company contractor laying telephone from Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.
Survivors are his wife, Arvalene Moore Brown, whom he married November 24, 1955 in Lindale, Tx.; three daughters, Sharon Upshaw, Tammie Cagle, Tonya (Ronald) Malone, all of Wolfe City; one son, Thomas Ray (Lori Matthews) Brown Jr., Metairie, La.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Billy Brown, Palestine; two sisters, Dorothy Niehaus, Mineola, and Martha Henbest, Plano. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice Moore, and a grandson.
His funeral service was July 25 at First Baptist Church in Wolfe City with Bro. Tim Hearn and Bro. Kenneth Ballard officiating. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery with military honors by the Hunt County Honor Guard and Masonic burial rites by Excelsior Lodge 505. Pallbearers included Clint Dishman.
