John Hitt, 84, went to his heavenly home Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born September 6, 1932 in Slate Springs, the son of George “Pat” and Ruby Jennings Hitt. He was a retired truck driver for Buckhorn Carriers and a member of Midway Baptist Church in Vardaman.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Pryor Funeral Home in Calhoun City.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Calhoun City with Bro. Don Wilson officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Reedy Hitt; daughter, Laura Autry, Calhoun City; two sons, Gary (Michelle) Hitt, Rocky Pointe, NC and Stephen (Glenda) Hitt, Troy; two brothers, George Hitt and Mike (Malinda) Hitt, both of Calhoun City; sister, June (Richard) Lewis, Woodville; grandchildren, Eric (Liz) Autry, Tupelo; Lauren Autry, Yazoo City; Ashley (Josh) Fontane, Rocky Point, MC and Brooke Hitt, Las Vegas, NV; Raena Smith, Palmer, AK, Meagan Hitt, Bowling Green, OH, Cody Hinkel, Lexington, KY, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Hitt; daughter, Ruby Catherine; brother, Glen Hitt and sister, Betty Lockwood.
