Betty Mitchell Mallory, 88, passed away at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford on Friday, Apr. 17, 2020. Born July 1, 1931, in Slate Springs, she was the daughter of  George Mitchell and Lucille Lovorn Mitchell. She graduated from Ellard High School and was a member of Sabougla Baptist Church. After high school, she continued her education at Draughon’s Business College in Jackson.

In 1950, she married R.W. “Dike” Mallory, and they spent 58 wonderful years together until his passing in 2008. She was retired from Kellwood after more than 30 years of service,  where she worked in the Human Resources department. She had a great personality and a wonderful sense of humor.

She taught Sunday school at Sabougla Baptist Church, and arranged flowers for the church. She was a great artist and loved to paint. She was also a great cook, and loved preparing incredible meals.

Above all, spending time with her family meant the most to her. They will miss her dearly, but God has now called her home, and she has been reunited with her beloved husband and daughter, and others who have gone on before her.

A graveside service celebrating her life was Monday at Bethany Cemetery in Slate Springs with Bro. Jim Vance officiating. Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons.

She leaves daughter, Stephanie (Sidney) Langston, Calhoun City; sons, David Mallory, Gore Springs, and Todd (Terri) Mallory, Arlington, TN; son-in-law, Joe Worthy; and Sherryl Mallory; grandchildren, Wendy (Bobby) Clausel, Kelly (Jason) Chandler, Hannah (Ashley) Williams, Josh (Kala) Langston, Mitchell (Amanda) Mallory, Ross Mallory, Trey Mallory, Olivia (Taylor) Goode, Grace (Graham) Garvey, 15 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, R.W. “Dike” Mallory; daughter, Erin Mallory Worthy; sister, Lina James, and brother, Thomas Mitchell.
