Jemmie Nell Cooke, 79, of Abilene, passed from this life Tuesday, March 18, 2014 and was reunited with her beloved husband Daniel Cooke. She was born in Oxford on January 11, 1935 to Elvis Wayne and Nettie Wilma (Brasher) Crocker. Jemmie was an amazing woman who will always be remembered for the deep love she had for her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed history and was very involved in politics and working for political campaigns and elections. She was also a member of the Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memory include her son: Shannon Cooke and wife Becky of Abilene, TX; one daughter: Evans Schell and husband John of Amarillo, TX; one brother: Wayne Crocker and wife Mildred of Calhoun City, MS; one sister: Ruth Hudson and husband Roger of Jackson, MS; nine grandchildren: Daniel Sorrells, Philip Sorrells, Hunter Cooke, Anna Claire Cooke, Catherine Cooke, Caroline Cooke, Reagan Cooke, Cooper Cooke and Griffin Cooke. She was preceded in death by her husband: Daniel Cooke; her parents: Elvis and Nettie Crocker and one brother: Jerry Crocker.Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Kermit Cemetery in Kermit, TX with Pastor Stan Allcorn officiating.
